Martha Florencia's story
Doña Martha has run a general store for the past 11 years and has seen her business grow gradually over time. She started with a very small store and has steadily added new products and items as more of her stock turned over with greater sales. She seeks to expand her store and one day to even add a 2nd floor annex. She hopes also to employ cashiers and to sell high quality clothing, shoes, jackets and beauty products. Her profit margins are slim as she finds it hard to obtain her merchandise at wholesale prices. Martha has competition in her region and this is also a challenge. She supports 4 children, all of whom are adults and independent. She has been married for 35 years and her age is 49. She lives in her own house and her husband no longer works in agriculture.
