A loan helped to purchase a milk cow.
Nana is from the village of Nakurdevi, in the southern part of the country. He is 36 years old, married and lives with his wife Anzor, two sons (13 and 11 years old) and brother-in-law. The children go to school. The family lives bellow the poverty line and they receive financial assistance from the state. Nana's brother-in-law is a person with disabilities and he receives social assistance from the government. The average monthly income of the family including the state assistance is 600 Laris. Nana and Anzor are leading the agro business for the family. They have three milk cows and sell approximately 60 kg of cheese per month. In addition, they grow potatoes and haricot on a family-owned 1.25-hectare plot of land. Harvested vegetables, as well as cheese, are sold in the village and in Akhaltsikhe (nearby town) open market. Nana requested a loan from Credo to purchase a milk cow. He will have more milk and will be able to produce and sell more cheese. Nana and Anzor plan reinvest the increase in profit in family farming activities, in order to expand it.
