Cirilo's story

This member belongs to the communal bank, " Mujeres en Accion" (Women in Action), and the bank is part of the Compone district, a province in Anta and department of Cusco. The member is part of this bank, because initially it started with just women and then they invited their partners, children, and family members to join - men as well as women - and at that point the bank could not change its name because it was already registered and populated. Cirilo is 55 years old, married, and has 5 children whom are all independent. Cirilo is a merchant who buys and sells pigs; he is in the pig business. He tells us he purchases young pigs and raises them, feeds them, and fattens them up to later sell at various fairs or regional markets. He seeks this loan to be able to invest in the remodeling of his home. In this occasion he would like the loan for the constuction materials for his home. This member would pay his installments from what he earns selling his animals; poultry and guinea pigs are amongst some of the other animals Cirilo raises. This member is soliciting this loan to invest in construction materials to remodel his home. As a member he finds himself very thankful for the support offered via these means and he comitts himself to fulfill his payments in the time allotted.
