Jack's story

This is 50 year old Jack who is the father of five. He deals in cattle trading in Ibanda district. He also produces banana from his plantation, the activity he was doing before engaging himself in cattle trading. He says he did not abandon growing and producing farm produce after getting involved in cattle trading since this would be detremental to his income and not being enough to cater for all his expenses. What is important to note here is that, Jack has been in this business for 15 years. So, as the saying goes, experience is the best teacher. Jack earns 500,000 Uganda shillings every week as profit from his business. He attributes his great profits to his hard work and experience in his business. Jack stresses his plan to have his own vehicle to transport the cattle to the market at the right time when they are most wanted. With the Kiva loan, Jack plans to buy more cattle for sale to increase his profits and reach better markets for his cattle.
