Marlene's story

Marlene, 38, lives in the town of Huaylahuicha. She is a hard-working woman and lives with her mother who helps care for her two lovely children, Joselin, 15, and Víctor, 12, whom she loves very much. Her main business is agriculture, and she works hard to grow lettuce, peas, spinach, Chinese onions and potatoes, which are in most demand in her town. Every morning, as she has been doing for five years no matter what the weather conditions were, she goes out to work on her land because she knows her income depends on sales of her produce, which takes an average five months to grow. She then takes it to the wholesale market in the city of Tarma to be sold. What she likes most about her job is working the lands. The most difficult part is getting her produce to market. But she does not let this get her down, and she takes her spinach crop to the capital city where she can earn more money. In the future she would like to buy more land to increase production and buy a truck with her earnings. Everything is all based on her children's future, as she would like to put them through college. She belongs to the communal bank "Victoria" and this is her second loan through MFP, where she counts on your support to help her grow. Marlene plans to use the loan to buy pea seeds and several sacks of organic fertilizer to begin planting.
