Juana's story

Juana is a partner of the "San Juan D. Tahuaco" Community Bank, which is located in the Yunguyo district, in the Yunguyo province and department of Puno. She is 44 years old, and is married with 6 children (2 of whom are independent). She studied up to an incomplete secondary education level. Together with her husband, she works buying and selling livestock like sheep and cattle. She has been working with the Manuela Ramos Movement for fourteen years; her first loan was 300 New Soles, money which she invested in her business. With this new loan of 3000 Soles, she will buy two cows. She says that she will buy them at the markets in Yunguyo and Zepita, and fatten them for 2-3 months, then sell them later. She also tells us that her husband works as a driver, providing a transportation service with his car. Her dream is to improve the business and thus improve their income. What she likes about the Community Bank are the meetings with the members. In the photo she is shown next to her husband's car.
