A loan helped to purchase a straight stitch industrial sewing machine and some stock for the fall collection, along with some mannequins, hangers, and hang tags.
Emily Ann's story
Emily founded her home-based clothing business in February 2010 while working three days a week at a magazine. She also previously co-owned a grassroots fashion label, which gave her exposure to the industry, helped her to build many contacts in the field, and enabled the confidence and skills to sell her current business products. Emily’s business is an organic fashion label for men and women that sells directly online. Although she is the only employee and relies on interns and volunteers, she is successfully able to sell products through word of mouth, boutique consignments, outdoor festivals and exhibit vendor booths. Emily’s greatest business accomplishment was a feature in a local magazine. Emily hopes to one day expand her business into a vertically integrated design house with on-site manufacturing, enabling both employment and education. With this loan from ACCION USA, Emily will purchase a straight stitch industrial sewing machine and some stock for the fall collection, along with some mannequins, hangers, and hang tags.
