María Rosario's story

Maria is a member of the communal bank "Nueva Juventud", meaning "New Youth". She lives in the community of Del Valle Parish. This parish is of a cold climate and the population retain their culture and traditions. They are dedicated to commerce, livestock farming and agriculture. They are known to be very kind and hardworking people. Maria is 23 years old, married, and she has a 3-year old daughter. Her husband works at a construction block manufacturing plant. They don't have a house of their own so they live with her mother-in-law, although they are independent. Maria works in agriculture, working fields belonging to others. At home, she raises poultry, guinea pigs, and pigs which she sells in her community. She is on her sixth loan with her communal bank and she is happy to have such good friends there. The funds from her loan will be invested in the purchase of poultry, guinea pigs, and pigs to keep up her business. Her goal is to have a house of her own.
