Silvia Elena's story

Silvia has had her own business for over twenty years: a small grocery store and Nacatamales sales (Nicaraguan style tamales) on the weekends. She started with a small investment that she improved with Afodenic loans over ten cycles. Sales have increased and she’s done some home improvements. Her husband works in construction and both have supported their children in everything; today they are independent. Silvia used her previous loan to replace the roof on her house and now will use the new loan to build a covered porch where she’s already installed the tile. However, when it rains the water is seeping through so she will cover it to improve this situation. She will buy zinc metal sheeting, purlines, screws, solder, cement, sand and tubes to start the work.
