Resurection Plus Group's story
Mamie, aged 52, is the chairwoman of the Community Bank “Resurrection Plus,” which is composed of 10 members united in solidarity to receive loans from Kiva through the MFI HOPE RDC with the goal of developing their businesses. Mamie has been active in her business since 1994 selling secondhand clothing. Today, she has diversified it by adding smoked and salted fish at the market located west of the city of Kinshasa. She is a loyal client of the MFI HOPE RDC who has already received eight different loans and has repaid them properly. As the fish demand is high in her community, she intends to use the next loan to increase the fish stock and resell them with the aim of increasing her profits. Each week, her business brings in a profit of $70. Her ambition is to open a storage facility. Mamie is married and has five children, who are aged between 14 and 32 years old. Three of them go to school.
