Union And Strength Group's story

Maira Dalila, Santos Humberto and Santa Margarita, all residents of the Valle region of Honduras, formed the "Union and Strength" solidarity group in June of 2011. Collectively they will serve as guarantors of each others' loans. Both Maira Dalila and Santos Humberto operate small convenience shops where they sell basic foodstuffs, personal hygiene products and other household items. They are requesting loans of 8,000 HNL and 5,000 HNL, with which they will purchase merchandise for their shops. Santa Margarita operates a business selling firewood in large quantities, as well as refreshments, snacks and other basic food items. She is requesting a loan of 5,000 HNL, with which she will buy merchandise to sell in her business.
