but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to grow coffee. He will buy fertilizers and supplies, and pay laborers.
Santos Simion's story
Santos lives in Ocotolillo community, in Yali, in Jinotega. He is 37 years old, has two children and works as a coffee farmer. Santos started growing coffee on a plot of land belonging to his dad at the age of 15. When he was 22 years old, Santos received his inheritance from his father and started working independently. He also got married. Santos' children are attending school in their community. In spite of the fact that he only studied up to the fourth year of elementary school because he started working, Santos would like a better future for his children. He also grows basic grains such as corn and beans, and sells bananas which makes him an extra income. Santos requested this loan to help him grow his coffee. He will buy fertilizer and supplies, and pay laborers. With this investment, he hopes to better maintain his coffee crop, obtain a good-quality harvest and a good yield. He is focused on continuing to improve his coffee growing and would like to buy an additional 'manzana' (approximately 1.68 acres) of land on which to grow coffee. He would also like to improve his home. His next goal is to sow two 'manzanas' of land with beans, one with corn and grow coffee.
