Sabougnima Group's story
This solidarity group was created on June 28, 2002. The 10 women who make up this group all live in the same neighborhood and their business is selling various small items. Madame Awa, who is on the right in the photo, raising her hand, is the leader of the group. She is 69, married, and the mother of six children. She is also raising one child who was confided to her by a neighbor. She works selling kerosene, palm oil, and soap. She has a lot of experience in this field which she has been in for several years. This loan will allow her to expand her business which is going well, since the demand is greater than she can keep up with. The profit will allow her to put aside more in savings and help buy food and clothing for her family.
