Elsa Beatriz's story
Elsa is a member of the village bank Prosperidad. She lives in the sector of Batan in the city of Cuenca, which is known for its beautiful architecture and its natural surroundings. Cuenca is the cradle of athletes and writers, and its people maintain their culture and traditions. Elsa, 34, is married and has 5 children ages 14,12,7,4, and 2. Her oldest daughter is in high school and the next two are in a school in the city. Her husband works as a sales agent. They don't own a home, so they rent. For a year and a half, Elsa has worked in her own restaurant. She works every day from 8am until 8pm. She has been in the village bank for 2 years and her previous loans have allowed her to expand her business little by little. The new loan will be invested in the purchase of dishes and tables which her restaurant lacks. Her dream is to own her own home.
