Josiphene is from the village of Mambuaya, Cagayan de Oro City. She is 42 years old and married. To make a living, Josiphene owns and operates a specialized retail store. While not the only means for generating revenue, the main source of income for the business comes primarily from buying and selling pillow cases, blankets and bed sheet products in the local community. Josiphene has been engaged in her business for over five years and earns approximately 10,000 PHP a month for these activities. In 2007, Josiphene joined HSPFI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Josiphene has successfully repaid a previous loan of 17,000 PHP from HSPFI. This previous loan was used to to purchase additional inventory and working capital. Josiphene is requesting a new loan of 20,000 PHP, which will be used to purchase additional blankets and pillow cases. This loan will be the eighth taken out by Josiphene from HSPFI.
