Mujeres Con Visión (Cuenca) Group's story

The Mujeres con Visión (Women with Vision) community bank is made up of 11 hard-working, determined women who are always in search of a better future for their families. They are all engaged in different business activities which allow them to improve their financial situation. They live in different parts of the city of Cuenca. This is a cold-climate city with a beautiful historic, colonial center which is admired by both locals and strangers alike. Its people maintain their culture and traditions. Zulay Elizabeth N. lives in Cuenca city center. This is the second loan that she has accessed through her community bank and she likes the loans since they allow her to grow in her business. Zulay sells clothes. She has been in this business for two years and she only works on market days. She is about to start a new business selling fast food. Zulay is 28 years old. She lives with her partner and has three children aged 9, 8 and 6 who are attending an elementary school in the city. Her husband is an electrician by profession. They don't own their own home but live in a rental house. Zulay will invest her loan money in buying products with which to prepare her fast food such as meat, sausages, bread, rice, potatoes, etc. Her goal is to get her children ahead in life.
