Mshikamano Group's story
Chiku I. is in her mid-thirties and married with two children who are still in school. She has been selling fabrics, beetsheets, ladies clothes and sarongs, door to door since 2003. She works from 8.00am to 2.00pm (six hours) and is able to make a small monthly profit. This will be Chiku's 12th loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loans to increase her fabrics stock, buy a sewing machine, pay rent and school fees. She has paid back her loans sucessfully. She hopes for a loan to buy fabrics from the Republic of Congo because they sell faster. Her dream is to one day own a clothing shop. Chiku will share this loan with his loan group "Mshikamano" which has a total of 19 members. The members of the group will hold each other in paying back their loans. In the picture Chiku is in front 3rd from right in pink with a covered white and black scaf.
