Mujeres En Accion Group's story

Señora Liz R. had the initiative to set up this committee. She contacted friends and neighbors to establish the committee in her community. The committee is called "Mujeres en Acción" [Women in Action]. It is in its first loan cycle with 18 members. It is a group that stands out in the neighborhood. They plan activities and incentives for the group in case it is needed by any member. Señora Liz earns a living at dressmaking. She has many clients throughout the area but does not have an adequate supply of materials to complete all the orders she receives, since she does not have sufficient money to purchase in the quantities she needs to carry out her work. Thus she is requesting the loan so that she may buy all the materials she needs, especially cloth, which is the most expensive item she must get, and the most important. This is her way of earning the necessary income to be able to financially support her family, as do the other women, who also contribute to the family piggy bank with profits from their labor.
