Ana Maria's story
Ana María is a mother and a wife which is a challenge for any woman, especially when they also work, as it is very difficult to look after your family whilst working in a maquiladora (cross-border assembly plant) or some institution. For this reason, Ana María decided to stop working for a company in order to set up her own business where she could make her own decisions. Four years ago, she set up a stationery and novelties store in her own home called “Doña Ana”. This allowed her to stay on top of her housework and not neglect her three young children who need her protection. Right now, Ana would like to buy more merchandise for her business, such as stationery supplies and sewing supplies, so that she has a wider variety of products to offer her customers. In this way, she will be able to continue making an income to support her husband with their household expenses.
