Johana María's story
The members of the community bank Sweet Friendship (Dulce Amistad) meet every two weeks in the canton of Rocafuerte. This location is known for the delicious sweets prepared by the locals, which are recognized throughout the country. The people are very warm, friendly and hardworking. Mrs. Johanna lives here and is 30 years old, married with a son age 11 from this relationship, who attends school. Her husband is a merchant. She has been in the community bank for three loan cycles and likes it because the bank has helped her to purchase items required in her business. She has a beauty salon, where she performs various jobs such as dyeing, cutting hair, painting nails and others. She works from 8:00AM to 9:00PM and sometimes even later if customers require her services. She also sells clothing of all types in her shop and has windows to display these clothes. She communicated that her beauty salon is 17 years old. The business has performed very well and has grown gradually. She is going to use this loan to buy hair dye, supplies for permanents and clothing of all kinds. Her dreams are to have good health and never be left without work.
