Balimaya Group's story

The women of the Balimaya group are all married, are on average 33 years old, and have three children. They live mostly in nuclear families in the village of Madoudiarrabougou, in the Fana prefecture, in the region of Koulikoro (the second administrative region of the Republic of Mali). They know each other through family ties, as neighbors and as friends. They sell various items. The women of the Balimaya group on are their second joint loan which will be used to buy clothing, condiments, indigo for dyeing, peanuts and wheat flour. MAMA D. plans to buy clothing weekly from the wholesalers at the Fana market. She makes her sales daily in the village, for cash and on credit, to a clientele of men and women. She foresees making an average monthly profit of 30,000 FCFA which will be used to pay off the loan. The rest will be reinvested in her business.
