Sheema's Group's story

Sheema is 41 and a housewife. She got married when she was only 19 years old to A. G., who is a tailor by profession. He is known as an expert in his field and provides his customers good quality services. Sheema belongs to Depalpur, a small city of Punjab, Pakistan, known for its agriculture industry. She has been living there in a two-room brick house with her family in the small colony named Fazal Elahi for the past 12 years. She has two sons and a daughter. Her sons had to leave their education early to support the family financially. Her elder son is also a tailor, while her younger son is a bus conductor. Her daughter is getting religious education. Sheema has applied for a loan from Kiva partner Asasah for the improvement of her husband’s tailoring business. With the loan, he will buy an over-lock machine (a machine to sew over the edge of one or two pieces of cloth for edging). This will enable him to offer this service to his customers. In the past, for this work they used to approach other tailors who had over-lock machines. Sheema is a regular loan user of Asasah and this is her third loan application. In previous loan years, she has proved herself a responsible client who always paid her installments on time and never missed a single meeting. Note: In the photo, the lady holding a book (called Asasah Passbook) is Sheema.
