Nuevo Horizonte Group

The Nuevo Horizone (New Horizon) group is comprised of three hard-working, dedicated, and enterprising people. Adriana is one of them. She is the 38 year old owner of a seamstress shop. She started her shop in 1993 with one sewing machine. She only made shirts and shorts. Now, she works with her husband who is a tailor. They specialize in pants, skirts, and shirts. They have five sewing machines, and their older children help them. She has four children; ages 19, 18, 17, and 15. The two youngest go to school. Another member is María. She is 60 years old, and she has a small business selling “nacatamales” (steamed meat and vegetable pastry, cooked in banana or maize leaves). The other member is 58 year old José Marío. He is a farmer, and he buys and sells fruits.
