Ms. Amanda O. is a member of the “Mujeres de Combate” Communal Bank. She lives in the sector of San José that belongs to the parish of Baños. This parish is known for its thermal waters, rich gastronomy, and beautiful landscapes. Amanda is 34 years old. She is married and has 4 children ages 13, 12, 10, and 8. Her first two children study at the “colegio” (school) and the last two attend a small school in the sector. Her husband is a taxi driver. They do not own their own home so they rent. Amanda is a tradeswoman who sells shoes. She has been in this business for 5 years. She works from Monday to Friday but does not have set hours. She travels throughout the city selling her shoes. This is her second loan with the communal bank which she joined at the invitation of a friend. She will use the money form the loan to buys children’s shoes. Her dream is to own her own home.
