A loan helped Buying firewood.
Jekafo. Group's story
The group JEKAFO is comprised essentially of married women averaging 35 years of age and three children and living for the most part in monogamous families in Hamdallaye, a district in Sikasso City (3rd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). The group members are on their 14th loan with the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso in order to satisfy the needs of their customers. The past loans have all been repaid. Ms. NANA D. has a business involving firewood in this group of women, JEKAFO. She intends to use her loan to buy 4 donkey-cart loads of it in the villages surrounding Sikasso. By special orders, she resells it for cash to a customer base composed of women and men in Hamdallaye and of family members. She envisions making an average monthly profit of 37,000 francs CFA. Part of the profits will be used for day-to-day family expenses, and the other part will be put into savings. Her ambition is to increase her turnover, so as to satisfy her customers further.
