Emma Babayran Group's story

Emma is a 50-year-old woman from the village of Dela Paz Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She is the group leader of this three-member group. While each member of the group receives an individual loan, they are collectively responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if they are delinquent or default.

Emma is married and has four adult-age children. To earn a living, she owns and operates a business venture in the agriculture sector. Specifically, she plants and harvests rice for sale in her local community. She has been engaged in her business for over 25 years and earns approximately 10,000 PHP per month from these activities.

In 2007, Emma joined PMPC to gain access to financial services. In turn, she has been better able to engage in business activities and to thereby improve her standard of living. Notably, this would be her seventh loan through PMPC. Most recently, she successfully repaid a prior loan in the amount of 14,000 PHP from PMPC, which was used to purchase additional inventory and for additional working capital. Emma is now requesting another loan, this time in the amount of 14,900 PHP, which will be used to purchase new items to expand her product line. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business as a result of the loan to improve and expand her business.
