Fe Y Amor 4 Group's story

Carmen is a mother with two children. Her family consists of herself, her children and her partner. They all live in the same house which is located in a poor neighborhood with limited access to drinking water and electricity, in the city of Santiago, the second largest city in the Dominican Republic. Together with her partner and with a lot of effort, Carmen provides for her family. She and her partner both work hard to get ahead and improve their quality of life. Carmen belongs to the 'Fe y Amor 4' (Faith and Love 4) group. This group consists of 4 women and 1 man. They are part of a larger group of small businesspeople who are using micro loans to strengthen investment in their businesses. Carmen sells basic medicines as an itinerant street vendor. In this country, 'botica' refers to a system where people from the same community are able to have access to a small pharmacy, with specific medicines to treat headaches, other aches and pains and flu, as well as other symptoms, generally at affordable prices. Carmen's investment goes directly into increasing her inventory. This is her fourth loan from Esperanza. One of Carmen's favorite activities is singing which she enjoys as well as her work. Her big dream is to own her own home. Carmen thanks you for your support on behalf of all the members of her group.
