Emmanuel 1, 2 & 3 Group's story

Guillermina is the coordinator of her group, Emmanuel 1, 2 & 3. Her story is representative of her group and of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican clients generally, many of whom recently emigrated to the Dominican Republic from Haiti. Guillermina's group is located in the rural communities surrounding El Seybo, a rural town where agriculture dominates the economy and where running water — none of which is potable — and electricity are unreliable. She makes her home here in a simple structure with her husband. They have raised four children together. Guillermina is excited to be taking her sixth loan with Esperanza after having successfully repaid her previous loans and grown her business considerably. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business by purchasing sugar, coconut, and milk to produce sweet, local candies. She will use the profits to reinvest in her business with the dream of one day owning her own candy shop from which to sell home-maD. candies and pastries. She thanks you all for your support.
