Cristo Y Nuestro Esfuerzo 2 Group's story

Yaquelin is a lively 60-year-old woman who lives with her long-term partner and their two children. With the money from this loan, she will invest in her business selling clothing for women and men. She started her business with the first loan she took around 3 years ago, and she has been reinvesting all her five loans she took before this. Her dreams for the future are to buy her own house, and to have her kids go to university. Yaquelin is a member of the group known as Cristo y Nuestro esfuerzo (Christ and our effort) 2. She emigrated from Haiti 20 years ago, and this group is composed of Haitian citizens living in her village. Her story is representative of her group and of Esperanza's Dominican and Haitian clients generally, many of whom recently emigrated to the DR from Haiti. Her group is located in the rural areas surrounding La Romana, where the economy is dominated by the sugar cane harvest and where running water (none of which is potable) and electricity are unreliable. She thanks you for your support.
