but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy packages of second-hand clothing.

Amor Y Esperanza 3, 4, 5 Group's story

Gislaine is the coordinator of her group Amor y Esperanza 3, 4, 5 (love and hope). She makes her home here in a simple structure with her husband and their two children. She says that her biggest challenge is to give her kids all they need and educate them. Gislaine is excited to be taking her fourth loan with Esperanza after having successfully repaid her previous loan and grown her business. She has had her business for almost 4 years, starting to sell different products from a bag with some saving she had. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business by buying big packages of used cloths. She will use the profits reinvest in her business. Her story is representative of her group and of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican clients — many of whom recently emigrated to the DR from Haiti. Her group is located in the urban slums surrounding Santo Domingo. This area, like nearly all impoverished areas of the Dominican Republic, suffers from unreliable electricity and running water — none of which is potable. The loan has separate pictures just because we want to show everybody's face.
