Trancito Lucia's story
Señora Trancito G. is a member of the community bank Prosperidad (Prosperity). She lives in the Miraflores sector of the city of Cuenca. This city is known for its architectural beauty. Its people maintain its culture and traditions and are kind and cordial. This bank member is 52 years old. She is married and has children of 28, 26, 24, and 18 years of age. Her oldest daughter is married and lives indenpendently. Her second child, a son, has special needs: he is in a wheelchair and needs to be in her care. Her two youngest daughters study at the university. Her husband works as a carpenter. With their combined work as a couple, they have succeeded in constructing their own house. Doña Trancito's work is raising chickens and guinea pigs. She has been doing this for 5 years. She also works in agriculture, planting vegetables and selling all her products in her own community. This is her second loan. Her cousins who are in the community bank invited her to join. She is going to invest her new loan in the purchase of chickens and chicken feed. Her goal is to have a bigger chicken coop.
