Jocelyn's story

Mrs. Jocelyn P. is from the barangay of P3 Gotokan Daku, Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental. She is 41 years old, married to Alejandro P., and is blessed with 2 children, both of whom are now studying in college. To make a living, she is presently engaged in farming activity, particularly in corn culture and production. She has been engaged in this kind of agriculture activity for 10 years. She is also receiving regular support from her husband as a farmer. She earns an average amount of not less than Php 3,000.00 a month from this kind of agricultural activity. In August 16, 2007, Jocelyn joined PMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Jocelyn is active member of Paglaum MPC under the PDP-LP, a microfinance program that reached out to rural communities. She has successfully repaid a loan amount of Php 10,000.00. She is now requesting a loan of Php 14,900.00 as her 6th loan, which will be used to pay her daughter’s tuition fees. She plans to use the revenue generated from her business to improve the general living conditions of her family, especially in meeting basic needs, savings for future use, loan repayments, children’s education, and possible business expansions. About PMPC: Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) is one of the most progressive cooperatives in northwestern Mindanao.
