Agnes's story

Agnes has been practicing mixed farming for the last 25 years and employs one farm hand. Her main products are milk, maize, beans, vegetables and fruits which she sells locally. She also owns a posho mill to grind maize flour, a retail shop and a motorcycle that supplements her income. Her primary challenge in farming has been the high cost of dairy feed and, when diseases strike, the expense of treating the animals and poultry. Agnes is 51 years old and married with 8 children aged between 10 and 34. Three of the children are currently attending school. She successfully repaid her previous loan from Juhudi Kilimo and has requested this loan of 61,200 KES to purchase and insure a dairy cow and expand her poultry farm. The extra income from this loan will help improve the livelihood of her family. She hope to expand her farming in terms of productivity and quality.
