A loan helped To purchase and insure a dairy cow.

Peter's story

Peter is an active member and secretary of Ngeet Group in Kitale town, western Kenya, which is being funded by Juhudi Kilimo. He has been practicing mixed farming for the last four years. His farm produces milk, maize, beans and vegetables which he sells locally. He is also a matatu (public service vehicle) driver. He has requested this loan of 62,400KES through Juhudi to purchase and insure a dairy cow. The extra income from this loan will help him take care of his family and also invest in other income-generating ventures. He hopes that his milk productivity will double in the next five years and that he will start zero grazing. His major challenges have been high cost of dairy feed and the low price of milk. Peter is 25 years old and married with two children aged two months and four years.
