Maria's story

María, 35, lives in her own house with her husband, Jesús, 37, and their two minor children. Together they struggle to get ahead in search of progress. For the last two years this enterprising woman has been selling fresh fish in an ambulatory fashion in one of her neighborhood’s markets. She works every day of the week, including feast days, from 6am until 3pm. She is very satisfied because she earns generous profits because her customers prefer the freshness of her fish and the good prices she offers. She also states that her work distracts her a lot because while she sells she chats with her fellow workers. This activity allows her to be watchful of her children’s education. What she dislikes about her work is that sometimes the product does not sell quickly and this affects it’s staying in good condition, it spoils. Because she’s an enterprising woman she plans to buy a stand in the market in the future to be able to sell with more stability. This is her third loan with MFP and she promises to repay punctually in order not to disappoint the people who made this contribution that allows her to stay in business. María plans to use the funds to buy some tools she needs like a new balance to continue selling this perishable product.
