N'babah Kalimusu's Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a partner of Kiva.org in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone, is pleased to present to you teachers of the Peninsula School III, in Waterloo, a small town where “Shine on Sierra Leone” partnered with SMT to start a branch. This school was founded in 1961 by The Seven Day Adventist Mission (SDA) to provide education for the children of the community. Currently the school is staffed with 70 employees and has an enrollment of 2500 pupils. These hard-working and dedicated teachers have come to SMT to seek for a loan of SLL 10300000. With the help of this loan, these teachers can embark on some meaningful projects that their salaries alone cannot finance. Some of them will use the loan to buy pieces of furniture; others, to buy house-building materials. Some will buy a piece of land or pay school fees for their children, while others will invest the loan in a business. N'babah C. is the leader of this group of teachers. Born in Kambia, northern Sierra Leone, N'babah is married to a businesswoman and the couple has six children, three of whom are attending primary or secondary school. Mr. C., who has been in the teaching profession for 34 years, is requesting this loan in order to pay school fees for his children.
