Zarina's Group's story
Zarina lives in Vehari, which is located in Punjab province of Pakistan and known for its agriculture industry. She lives there in the area named 63-EB with her family in a 3-room brick house. She moved here after her marriage. She is 34 years old, married to A. G., who is 38 years old and runs a grocery store in the market. He sells daily use items like cooking oil, sugar, spices, etc. from his shop. He has a good number of customers due to his good customer dealings and cheap rates on each grocery item. Zarina supports her family by selling clothes. She purchases clothes, wholesale, from a city called Multan and sells them to her local area clients for profit. She has 6 children. Three of them are studying, while the others remain illiterate due to limited financial resources. Zarina has applied for a loan from Kiva partner Asasah to help her husband’s business. With the loan, he will buy groceries in bulk quantity, which will help him sell more to his customers and make more money. She is hopeful that by investing loan money in her husband’s business he will be able to provide better financial support to his family by increasing his profits. She is a new loan applicant of Asasah and hopes it will be a good experience for her. Note: In the photo, the lady with a raised hand is Zarina.
