A home is undoubtedly important to everyone, including Evelyn R.. A desire for a house to call her own is something Evelyn is working hard to satisfy. Finishing only high school, Evelyn is ever determined to break people's low expectations of her. She is a CCT* community partner and is married to Oscar. They live in Pasay City, Philippines. Evelyn's home serves both as an abode of rest and a venue for business, because at her home she has set up a sari-sari (variety) store to earn a living. She sells a wide range of products to neighborhood people, including items from rice and noodles to detergent powder and soap bars. With this, Evelyn earns a net average of Php 3,000 per month. To help her grow her business, Evelyn would like to apply for a Php 29,000 loan. Adding more products to her store is a priority for her if she wants to improve her business, and the money from the loan would certainly be used to purchase these additional products. She looks forward to making the store grow and eventually expand. At present, Evelyn finds it hard to follow up with customers who do not pay their debts on time. But just like any other hardworking entrepreneur, Evelyn sees to it that no challenge will ever wear her out. She dreams of having enough money to build their own house which they can truly call their home. *All CCT community partners/clients are organized into fellowship groups that meet on a weekly basis. A fellowship group is composed of 15 to 30 community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study the Word of God, build social capital, and repay micro-finance loans.
