Julio Felipe's story
Julio is 28 years old. He is a taxi driver and works in the streets of Guayaquil, charging a very affordable fare. On average, his journeys cost between $1.50 and $8.00. He lives with his wife in a peri-urban area on the outskirts of Guayaquil called Duran which is noted for its deteriorating ecosystem. One of Julio's friends lent him a car for him to convert into a taxi until he saved enough money to buy his own taxi. Over time, he managed to buy his own taxi and start working independently. He works from the afternoon into the night in order to support his wife. Julio's house isn't well built because he hasn't managed to maintain it. As his wife is a housewife, he would like to provide her with a better quality of life. For this reason, he is taking this loan to buy cement, sand and paint. In the future, he would like to finish building his house and to buy a new taxi.
