Luna Radiante Group's story

The “Luna Radiante” (Radiant Moon) communal bank is starting its second cycle in Pro Mujer as part of the Panamericana Focal Center. It is a very lively group that has come together to continue working with Pro Mujer receiving credit services, training and health services. In addition, they comment that this is a place where they can share and enjoy the company of their fellow members, to laugh and forget their problems. It has nine members with various businesses like: underwear sales, bread sales, bakery, llaucha (cheese turnovers) sales, sewing, perfume sales, sportswear sales, toy sales, quinoa juice sales. The President of the communal bank, María René, is a young, 28-year-old mother of four children. She joined the communal bank because she needed training to run her sportswear selling business. She has a stand in the 16 de Julio neighborhood’s Thursday and Sunday markets. She learned to sell some years ago when she was a salesperson in a store in the city of La Paz. She later decided to become independent and open her own business. She has requested a Bs.800 loan to buy a dozen sports outfits. When she was asked what she liked about Pro Mujer she commented that she likes the meetings that take place in the focal center especially because the group is very united.
