Esterlina's story

Esterlina M. is from the village of Barangay Mauan, Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya. She is 55 years old. Esterlina is married and has 5 adult children. To make a living, Esterlina owns & operates a business raising pigs for breeding. Esterlina has been engaged in her business for over 15 years and earns approximately 7,500 PHP a month for these activities. In 2009, Esterlina joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and her ability to engage in business activities. Esterlina has successfully repaid a previous loan of 21,000 PHP from ASKI. This previous loan was used to purchase breeding livestock. Esterlina is requesting a new loan of 20000 PHP which will be used to purchase livestock feed & other supplies. This will be the 2nd loan taken out by Esterlina from ASKI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family. About ASKI: ASKI is one of the most successful microfinance institutions in the Philippines. It has 38 branches covering the Central and Northeastern areas.
