Nelly Uvaldina's story
Nelly is a member of the Mi Bankito Community Bank. She lives in Carmen de Guaguanchi, which is in the Valle parish, which has a cold climate and is known for its natural beauty. The people live off of agriculture and raising animals. Mrs. Nelly works raising chickens; she has had this job since she got married 15 years ago. She works from Monday to Friday from 8 in the morning until 6 at night. She also grows vegetables and sells them at the fair in the city of Cuenca. She is 35 years old, married, and has three children (16,14, and 12) all of whom are in high school. Her husband works in a stucco shop and between their hard work they have been able to build their own home. This is her second loan with the community bank and was invited to join the group by her sister-in-law. She will use her loan to buy seeds and fertilizer for her fields. Her goal is to expand her house, which is just one story high.
