Canal De Bendicion 4, 5 Group's story
Solenny is one of the members of the Canal de Bendicion 4 y 5 group, a group in which the majority are Haitian immigrants who live in the city of La Romana, where the economy depends on the sugar industry and on luxury tourism. It is becoming one of the most exclusive destination in the Dominican Republic. There is a scarcity of potable water and electricity, and it there is a population of people from the Dominican Republic and Haitian immigrants. Their principle activity is new clothing sales. Solenny is a very active young person, about 22 years old. Currently she is single and tells us that her biggest challenge is to be able to finish her studies and become a professional. She lives with her parents. She really enjoys studying and selling, and in this manner has met many people. Solenny is very excited to receive her fifth loan from Esperanza International after having satisfactorily repaid her previous loans and having taken steps towards growing her business. She has had her business for about 3 years, when she began selling miscellaneous products. She is planning to invest her new loan in the purchase of new clothes, which are in high demand in the month of December. She plans to use her earnings to reinvest in her business and save in order to be able to celebrate Christmas with her family, but also to be able to complete her dreams of having a clothing store and to be able to get married.
