A loan helped To increase her business selling kangas, powdered soap, and face creams.

Nyerere Group's story

Fatuma is 30 years old and married with two children. For the past year and a half, she has been selling kangas (cloth commonly worn by Swahili women), powdered soap, and face creams door-to-door. She works from 9 am until 4 pm and earns a daily profit of approximately US$ 10. This will be Fatuma's second Motisha loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. A Motisha loan is a product offered by Tujijenge Tanzania that allows borrowers with good credit ratings to pay back their original loans faster and receive extra money before their original loan term has ended. Her dream is to one day build a house and to live a good life. Fatuma is a member of the 'Nyerere Group'. The members of the group will hold each other accountable in paying back the loan. Fatuma can be seen in the photo in the second row, first from the right.
