Ambai Salau's story
Ambai Salau, aged 30, is a livestock trader. He is married to Mariah, 32, who is a farmer, and together they have two daughters aged 14 and 2. He lives at Enkaroni village in Kajiado, and sells his livestock at Dagorreti and Kitengela markets within Nairobi. He also sells his livestock to the Kenya Meat Commission for better profits. Ambai has been running his livestock trading business for 2 years and his monthly profit is Kshs 28,000. He was introduced to KADET by the loan officer in charge of Kitengela office, which is near his Kajiado residence. His area of residence has a very busy market, so Ambai’s livestock are bought at good prices, and he uses the profits to take care of his family and educate his older daughter. After getting this loan, Ambai intends to use Kshs 20,000 to buy cows, Kshs 10,000 to buy goats, and Kshs 10,000 to buy sheep for trading, and if the loan boosts the business he intends to buy a piece of land and build his own business premises where he can keep his livestock safely. Ambai is young, ambitious and hardworking and dreams of becoming a big supplier of livestock to Kenya Meat Commission.
