Flora's story

Flora L. Chavala wants to take advantage of this season for producing the best crop of beans this year for both personal consumption and for sale. She is 52 years old and has spent her entire life farming in the community of Santa Fe de Alajuela, which is known especially for its close proximity to the northern border of the country. Doña Flora needs a loan of 603,000 CRC in order to buy supplies and prepare the soil on her property. She hopes this will provide her with the best crop and better income from which she can buy Christmas presents for her four children. Flora is a member of the Santa Fe Communal Credit Enterprise, one of the 100 member organizations that make up EDESA in Costa Rica.
