Las Amigas De Los Angeles Group's story

Gladys L. Malparida is 23 years old and lives in the Los Ángeles settlement in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima, Peru. She is a single mother; her baby from a previous relationship is only two years old. Gladys makes handicrafts such as bracelets, earrings, necklaces, hairbands, and keyrings. She works in her own home, where she lives with her son and her parents. When she goes out to sell her products, it is her mother who takes care of her son. The communal bank is formed of eight enthusiastic members who see in EDASPRO – PROSPERIDAD the opportunity to grow their businesses, have a better quality of life, and help their families get ahead. Their families are the motive for their daily hard work. Gladys’ dream is to become a prosperous businesswoman and be able to export her products to other countries. As she started the business at a young age and it is growing each day, she now employs two people to help her with making these art works. This loan will be used to buy raw materials, as she knows the demand will triple with the coming holiday season. And she already has several orders to fill.
