Libra Group's story
This group is called Libra, currently living in the colony of Providence, State of Mexico. They are very happy to have been with the Reality Foundation for five cycles already and hope to continue with us for a long time. Four members are housewives who like to feel useful and provide a service to the community and are very happy of what they have achieved as individuals and especially as Kiva program participants. María Elena S. is 29 years old and proudly from the state of Veracruz. She sells covers for appliances. María began working in a sewing factory where she stayed on approximately four years, but as her expenses rose she saw that it would be better to start her own business. At first it was hard for her to find customers, but with her efforts and her desire to succeed she was able to achieve good sales volumes. Today people come to her home to place orders for curtains, tablecloths, etc. She always trys to have a variety of slipcovers and to buy fabrics ahead of time. Sales occur throughout the year but decrease a bit during school enrollment; even so, it is a daily struggle. With the loan proceeds, she is going to buy different types of fabrics, lace, trimming and threads and have maintenance performed on her sewing machine. With the earnings she would like to be able to begin a new activity. The other members are: Yolanda R. C. (selling girls' clothing and imitation jewelry) Diana Karina R. (selling shoes by catalog) María de Jesús D. S. (selling fruits and vegetables).
