Tweyambe Women's Group-Jinja's story

It was after she got apprentice training at a local institution that 38-year-old K. Oliver nurtured the idea of starting her now four-and-a-half-year-old tailoring business. She combines this business with second hand clothing sales, all in Napier market in Jinja. Oliver’s group is called Tweyambe Women’s group. She is happily married with three kids. Before she even thought of beginning these businesses she was more into milk selling, given that she had a cow at home. It’s a business she still operates though at a lower level. On a weekly basis her business generates her about $40. With her portion of this loan Oliver says she is going to purchase a new sewing machine and also buy more second hand clothing for resale.
