Azra's Group's story

Azra lives in a city called Gujranwala in Pakistan with her husband and two sons in a 3 room brick house. She is a very talented lady, makes beautiful embroidery on clothes and then sells them in different shops of the market to earn income. Her husband has a business of selling electronic items in the market from where he not only sells electronic items, but also offers his electronics repair services to the customers. Due to his good command of his work he receives good orders for repairing electronics every month. Both of Azra’s sons are involved in her embroidery business. They have rented a shop in the nearby market from where they run their embroidery business. She has applied for a loan from Kiva partner, Asasah for her husband’s business. With the loan amount he will buy electronic items, such as irons and sandwich makers, and also buy some of the latest electronics repair tools. Azra is confident that her husband has good work experience in his field and he will do well with his business by making this investment in it. She is a new loan applicant. She hopes that it will be a good experience for her and she will continue her relationship with Asasah. While each member of the group receives an individual loan, they are all collectively responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults.
